Copper Supplements to treat and prevent copper deficiency
Pharmplex manufactures and supplies copper supplements either as copper oxide rods/needles or in filled gelatine capsules. Copper oxide filled capsules are used for the prevention and treatment of copper deficiency in cattle, calves, sheep, goats, deer and camels.
Copper is required for optimal growth and development. Supplementation of deficient stock can result in:
- Improved weight gain
- Higher milk yields in dairy cattle
- Enhanced reproduction
- Better quality and quantities of wool fro ...m sheep.
- Improved resistance to intestinal parasites (H. contortus)
Copper oxide needles are available in bulk 25kg net pails for filling into gelatine capsules. Pharmplex can also supply filled copper capsules in various capsule sizes and fill weights.

2.5g copper capsules are recommended for the prevention and treatment of copper deficiency in adult sheep and goats.
10g copper capsules are recommended for the prevention and treatment of copper deficiency in calves and adult cattle.
20g copper capsules are recommended for the prevention and treatment of copper deficiency in adult cattle.
Other capsule sizes and fill weights from 2g to 30g copper oxide are available.
Selenium Supplements - to treat and prevent selenium deficiency in sheep, goats and cattle
Pharmplex manufactures sustained release pellets to treat and prevent selenium deficiency.
Where selenium is deficient, the benefits of selenium pellets in sheep and cattle include:
- Increased growth rate
- Improved wool growth
- Enhanced reproduction
- Prevention of white muscle disease in lambs, kids and calves.

- Improved live weight of ewes during pre-lambing period
- Heavier lambs at birth
- Increased milk production in ewes during the first month of lactation

In cattle, the use of cobalt pellets has shown:
- 91% increase in body weight over 94 days for treated stock compared to untreated stock.
